Scotchtown Slasher
Yes, this is a big one and it might break you but it is totally doable and well worth it. Save this one for the solstice though because it will take all day. You’ll face some gnarly trail and hike-a-bike early on that will test your fortitude but the rewards are grand. One of the best, big days on the bike here. The hardest miles of this route come early and the trail between Liberty and Deerfield, whilst only 25 miles, will likely take you 2-3 hours to complete.
I’ve set the starting point at a convenient camping spot and swimming hole but you’re more than welcome to start this one in Buffalo Gap, it just doesn’t flow as well. A little campout session before or after this ride is highly rec’d. Don’t forget the little Mill Run swimming hole plunge just north of Williamsville
The old Deerfield grocery is now closed permanently and I don’t know the status of that building. I doubt anything will reopen there. Gas stations in Buffalo Gap and Millboro Springs will be your only saviors out here. Highly suggest bringing a lot of food and a water filter.
