This ride takes you from the comforts and provisions of Crozet all the way out into Devils Backbone territory. From town you’ll ride through the dankness of the Blue Ridge Tunnel, around Sherando via Coal Road, up the legendary Vesuvius and down what is considered the best descent in the area along the North Fork.

You won’t find any provisions here unless a side-quest to Montebello store is on your radar.

Plenty of pavement and miles of well-maintained gravel on this route means you’ll be able to get by with some fast rubber. Minimum 35mm and a fast rolling tread will suffice, though you’ll want more volume to fully enjoy the ripping descents of the North Fork.
