Southern Crozet Scramble
The Southern Crozet Scramble is a luxury gravel ride. There’s a resupply point at the half-way mark, you can do this on a road bike and you’ll rarely lose cell reception.
The route leaves Crozet and heads south, meandering over several rivers and through the Ragged Mountains. Leave your bags at home. This is a fast one!
You can pack light for this trip. Bring a credit card and a couple of bottles. If you’re running out of water, the church near Beaver Creek Reservoir has a water spigot.
I’d recommend 32mm wide tires or larger. 38mm is the sweet spot. The gravel never gets too rough out here as the roads are all well maintained.
